DIY Flower Puffs.

I am in charge of crafts for a week long girls camp this summer for my church. This is one of them. I decided to make it before camp started. I love how they turned out. Thanks Lauren for crafting with me. You're the best. This is a fun craft to do with a good movie or TV show to watch. Might I suggest Friday Night Lights. My favorite.

Styrofoam ball. (3in)

Flower die-cut. Pins. A few sheets of paper. One color save's time, but we did about four different patterns of paper.   

Overlapped two cut outs. Pin in the middle. Repeat. 

Tried the white pins. We liked the silver pins better though.

Easy DIY Pots / Vases.

So Chels and I decided we had a huge craft itch that just had to be scratched. It was super easy and fun! Here are some directions so you can make some for your home!


Step 1: Find an old vase/pot. We went to our local Goodwill and found some for 69 cents. 


Step 2: Find the color(s) you want! We used spray paint and acrylic paint for the finishing touches. We found that flat paint works and looks best.


Step 3: To get the embossed letter or words just grab your hot glue gun! Don't worry, hot glue is very forgiving once dried. Peel off it you don't like how it looks and try again. Make sure you get all the "glue fly-aways" off before you paint because you can see them through the paint.

Step 4: Paint. Do at least two coats. This may be the final step for some if you like how it looks. For all you over-achievers (like us) go ahead and add some sass!!  


Step 5: To add sass we used sponge brushes and acrylic paint. 

Step 6: ENJOY!

Refashionista: A Birthday

So my dear friend Summer is having a birthday AS WE SPEAK! I knew I wanted to get her something special, but was having a hard time finding it. So I decided to try and make her something myself. I am quite pleased how the shirts turned out. But I am NOT pleased in my lack of photographing the good stuff. I forgot to get an after photo of the blue shirt and I forgot to photograph the process of the white shirt. Sigh.

Summer has three beautiful kids from Africa. If you look closely you'll see a small heart over where exactly (or as exact as I could get on a cut out) they are from.

Refashionista: Last Minute Cards.

So yesterday I received a call from our ward Missionaries. They wanted to stop by and introduce the new Elder. I will be honest that I panicked a little because I knew I probably should have a little something planned as an FHE activity, but didn't. So I went into my craft corner and found some of my old bridal shower invites (which were seriously so cute, thanks sissys) and decided we would write Mothers Day cards! It was a lot of fun! We are so lucky to have two really awesome Elders!

I knew holding onto, packing, moving across country with the old invites would come in handy. I wonder what I will use my hundreds of extra wedding invites for...

Refashionista:Unmentionables.

So I have a really hard time throwing things away that I think could be used for ANYTHING else. This is especially true with clothing of any sort. Old jeans can become new shorts. Old skirts/dresses into a purse. You picking up what I'm putting down? The other day I went to Nordstroms with my Aunt and I found a cute headband. The problem is I am cursed with being horribly cheap and I could not bring myself to pay $8 for the tiny piece of cloth. Instead I found a pair of some old unmentionables (For my church friends, old as in 2008) and sewed them into a cute, new headband! Would you look at that?!

I made Kor try it on and Kai Kai really wanted to be in the picture!

I joined  Refashion Nation  (Thanks Ashley) and you are supposed to upcycle at least three things a month, which I pretty much do on a daily basis. I think everyone should try it out, you might even love it.

Better After.

Fact: I frequent the Goodwill almost daily. 

Fact: I am obsessed with crafting, DIY blogs. 

Combine the two and you get my latest little project. The blog Better After  is pretty amazing and totally inspired me on this one. I am thinking about submitting it. Not sure if I will though...

Luckily it fit perfectly in my car. Here it is in my little home with my model girl, Leche. 

JoAnns was having a paper sale so I got ten sheets of this paper for $2.00. Meant to be? I mod podged the bottom side of the glass. This was my first time mod podging glass, and it was better than I thought.  

Got some paint at the local Lowes and painted said table (in my living room, stupid rain) and voilá. I was too excited to let it dry overnight before photographing it, so please don't mind the painting tarp under it. I can't wait to put all my junkmail,car keys, diet coke cans and dinner plates on this baby!
